NAOMI PASTRANA MANKOVITZ
VP Sustainability
Salut/Hey <3
I'm Nay (she/her), a U2 BScN student looking to drive concrete and meaningful action towards social and environmental justice at ISoN and beyond! After advocating for this position to be created within the NUS last year, it is with absolute gratitude that I am able to apply to fill the VP Sustainability position in its second year. I believe this reflects that we are all moving towards a better place and this gives me the passion and conviction to keep on campaigning for nurses to be leaders in Planetary Health.
Much like the concept of Planetary Health, sustainability must take into consideration the intersections of social and environmental justice. There simply is no sustainability without intersectionality, especially Indigenous justice, for their communities are both protective leaders of our environment and suffer the greatest consequences of its destruction. Therefore, my goal as VP would be to create meaningful relations with you! (the community), amplify Indigenous voices and drive our collective goals of sustainability forward. Collectivism is inherent to sustainability, so I hope that together we can harness the powerful potential for change we have as nursing students at McGill!
